Hi, I’m Esty. And this all started with a dog named Oakley.
He is the best explorer I have ever met. On the trail he picks his own path, races ahead to see what's around the next bend, and somehow always finds the water. He does unexpected, silly things that make me laugh out loud in the middle of nowhere. But it wasn’t always like this.
Oakley came with fear. He was reactive, anxious, unsure of the world around him. What looked like big behavior was really just a dog who didn't feel safe yet. Building that safety and trust between us became everything. And the place where it happened fastest and most honestly was outside.
Adventure didn't fix him. It gave him a reason to try. The trail made the world feel less threatening and more worth exploring. It grew his confidence in himself and in me. Five years of hikes, trail runs, swims, camping trips, and long days in the mountains taught me more about relationship and training than anything else ever could. He checks in constantly now. He wants to be with me. We do everything together.
My approach starts with relationship. Not commands or compliance. Building trust between a dog and their person is everything. I've seen what that looks like with Oakley, with foster dogs I've brought home, and with shelter dogs I've taken out on the trail. I build that through structure, clear communication, and getting outside together. Adventure isn't the reward for good training. It's how the training happens. Dogs learn faster, settle more deeply, and come back more reliably when the work means something to them.
Every dog I work with gets treated as an individual. The tools change. The timeline changes. The goal stays the same. A dog who is confident, connected, and genuinely fulfilled by the life they share with you.
Come find us on the trail.

Meet Jacob.
Jacob came into Oakley's story a few years in and picked up right where the trail left off. He has been alongside every adventure since and somehow makes every dog he meets feel like they've known him their whole life.
He is high-energy, a little fearless, and dogs trust him instantly. On the trail that combination is everything.
Jacob leads adventure outings and works alongside me across all of our training programs. He is also the person behind the camera, which means the photos are actually good.
